Established in 1967 by the American Health Care Association (AHCA), National Skilled Nursing Care Week, formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, has been a tradition the week beginning with Mother’s Day. The week provides an opportunity to recognize the role of skilled nursing care facilities in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. The 2018 National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW) theme was announced as “Celebrating Life’s Stories.”
Jefferson Park was excited for this year’s NSNCW and held several events for both our elders and our staff. The week kicked off with a Mother’s Day brunch followed by some bingo fun on Sunday, May 13th. Throughout the week, we had several events, such as employee appreciation events, movie marathons, social activities, and various celebrations of life. Our week of festivities ended on Saturday, May 19th with watermelon on the front porch of our community.
